FindEggsLocal is a directory of people selling eggs direct — small farms and backyard flocks on the same map. It is free to search, free to list on, and it takes no part in the sale.

What's here right now

23 listings across 18 states. 23 of them we added ourselves; 0 came in from sellers. 9 state a price per dozen. Most of the US map is still empty, and it only fills in as people add themselves — there is no scraped database behind this.

Where the listings come from

There are exactly two sources, and each listing says which one it is.

Seller submissions. Anyone can add a listing through the form. A person reads each one before it appears, which is there to stop spam and nonsense — not to verify anything. We do not visit, inspect, or test.

The starter listings. A map with nothing on it is no use to a first visitor, so we seeded it with farms found through ordinary web searches. For each one we read the farm's own site and confirmed it was selling eggs direct to the public at the time, and we recorded only what that site actually said — which is why many have no price or availability. Several candidates were dropped for failing that check, including one that had ended retail egg sales entirely. We have not spoken to any of them. If one of these is yours and the details are wrong, submitting it again replaces our version with yours.

What we don't do

There is no staff, no test kitchen and no inspector. This is a small independent site, not an organization with reviewers.
Nothing is verified. "Pasture-raised", "organic feed" and "soy-free" are the seller's own words, repeated as given. Terms like these are not audited by anyone on our end.
No listing is paid, promoted, sponsored or ranked in exchange for anything. Nobody can buy a position. Results order by distance when you search, and alphabetically when you don't.
No payments pass through the site, and we take no commission. You arrange everything with the seller.
We do not rate or review sellers, because we have no basis on which to do it honestly.

How location is handled

The form asks for a ZIP code and nothing more precise. Map pins sit at the geographic center of that ZIP code, so a pin is never a house. Because a lot of sellers here are households, this is deliberate: buyers see a town, and the seller decides what to share when someone gets in touch. Whatever contact details a seller enters are public on their listing page, so they should only enter what they're happy to publish.

If you use the "near me" button, your browser asks permission and the coordinates are used in your browser to sort the list. Searching by ZIP sends only that ZIP to our server to look up its coordinates.

Listings go stale

This is the honest weakness of any directory like this. Hens stop laying, people move, stands close. Every listing page shows how long ago it was posted, and ones past about six months are flagged as possibly out of date. Nothing here is a live inventory — always message before making a trip.

Spotted something wrong, or want a listing removed? Resubmitting a listing overwrites the old one, which is the quickest way to correct it.
